HELEN LENGFELD AWARD

2000 Was the inaugural year for the Helen Lengfeld Award.  This award is to be given for outstanding service by a PWGA member.  There are many women who give of their time to further golf for women and girls without asking for numeration nor recognition.  This prestigious award is presented at the annual banquet following the Helen Lengfeld Tournament held each year in October.  Nominations can be made by any PWGA member or Club through it's Captain.  Nominations in the form of a letter stating the nominees accomplishments should be mailed to the PWGA President no later than July 1st.

2007 Winner of the Helen Lengfeld Award

The Helen Lengfeld Award is our most prestigious award.  It is presented each year at this tournament to the member who most parallels the volunteering and service of Helen Lengfeld, Founder of the Pacific Women’s Golf Association.

This year, we had several nominees who are very worthy of this award, and it was difficult to narrow it down to one person.

This year’s recipient has helped in the development of a First Tee Program and with a Girl Scout Troop of beginning golfers.  She has always been available for Swing Club Outings with the veterans in Menlo Park.

On the club level she has served as:

Tournament Chair
Rules Chair
PWGA Rep
Historian
Captain
Team Play Coordinator

On the Board level she has served as:

Rules Director
Vice President
President
Past President

On the USGA level she has either helped or been in charge of the:

Mid Am Qualifier
Women’s Open Qualifier
Jr Qualifier
US Women’s Open
and is currently a USGA Women’s Public Links Committee Member

On the County, State or National level she has been served on:

Rules Committees, and was the Rules Chair for the California Women’s Championship
