We are thrilled to announce Dotty as this year’s recipient.  Dotty served as President of the association 2003.

In summary, since paying her first membership dues to PWGA, Dotty has given her all to women’s golf.  You’ll find her at every tournament, and always volunteering to help out, no matter how menial the task.  On the local level, she’s been Captain, PWGA Rep, Rules Chair and Tournament Chair for the various clubs that she has belonged to.  There is no limit to the amount of energy that she has put into being of service to PWGA and its member clubs.  And she is still doing it.

Helen Lengfeld would be very, very proud of Dotty for doing her best to encourage the Pacific Women’s Golf Association to continue in the spirit with which it was begun.

PWGA recently lost Past President Charlotte Sanderson.  Charlotte served as President of the Association in 1989.  Charlotte was an active PWGA member, serving at the club level as well as on the Executive Board. She was a long time golfer and won tournaments including the Mixed Couples tourney she won with her son.  Charlotte we thank you for your contributions to the PWGA and Women’s Golf.

Starting on January 1, 2010, your monthly handicap updates will occur twice per month, on the 1st and on the 15th.  GHIN deals with about 68 associations world-wide.  Many of them are on twice-monthly index updates because the association’s clubs are active seasonally (a winter off-season).  Since they have shorter active seasons, the members wish to be updated more frequently than once per month.  In order to simplify things, USGA has decided that in 2011 all GHIN-associated clubs would go to twice-monthly updates.   

NCGA decided to get ahead of the game and incorporate this change in 2010.  And since PWGA and WGANC are so closely allied with NCGA, our two women’s associations also have chosen to make the change as of January 2010.

WORKSHOPS – Area Workshops are held annually within each area in February provide an opportunity for members to come and learn more about PWGA.  The workshop offers all  members Rules sessions, handicap chairs a Handicap System session and general info to all members about our competitions and Team Play.  The area workshops are also a great venue for members to meet  some of the Executive Board, their area board and to network with other women from clubs within their area.
